When scaling up sustainable innovations into practice, the challenge lies primarily in resolving problems. In addition to the technological system, the other aspects that should fall into place are the business model, social embrace and legislation and regulations.

The Green Deal is an active participation and collaboration between The Green Village, the ministries of EZK and I&W, the province of South Holland, the municipality of Delft, the Delfland Water Board and the NEN. Since November 2019 the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom relations signed up as well.

The Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (responsible for Spatial Planning, Housing and Construction) is The Green Village’s newest Green Deal partner.

Sabine Galjé, deputy. Director of Building and Energy: “We strive for a Netherlands where we can live together in a pleasant way. In homes that are future-proof, energy efficient and comfortable, with clean energy in our neighborhoods, where we can also cope with the changing climate.”

“That challenge is huge, the technical part, but also the administrative part. With our entry to the Green Deal Green Village, the Minister therefore emphasizes the importance of collaborating intensively and learning together with the front runners from science and industry.”

” We will focus on identifying bottlenecks in legislation and regulations so that specific recommendations and structural solutions are made. In this way we support that what is learned, will be applied within appropriate frameworks and accelerated in practice.”
