INSITER is a Horizon2020 funded project, with the aim to develop Self-Inspection Techniques for construction, refurbishment and maintenance of energy-efficient buildings made of prefabricated components.
INSITER aims to eliminate the gaps in quality and energy-performance between design and realisation of energy-efficient buildings based on prefabricated components. The key innovation of INSITER is the intuitive and cost-effective Augmented Reality that connects the virtual model and the physical building in real-time. INSITER will develop a new methodology for self-instruction and self-inspection by construction workers, subcontractors, component suppliers, and other stakeholders during on-site working processes, supported by a coherent set of hardware and software tools.
The construction of two new testbeds at The Green Village: the Office Lab and dwellings by Sustainer Homes will function as demonstrators for the INSITER project. The field demonstration activities at The Green Village focus on the positioning of the modules with the help of QR codes, the testing and inspection of air tightness measurement on site and digital VR instruction including dimensions and tolerances facilitating assembly on site. All these activities are part of the development of the Insiter methodology. The Office Lab is the test-case where these activities are theoretically reflected on the case. On-site testings will be carried out during assembly of the dwelling a few weeks later.
