TU Delft PowerWeb Institute: Annual Conference

17 June 2021 @ 14:00 - 17:00

TU Delft PowerWeb Institute
In search of integral solutions for this changing energy market, three faculties at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) joined forces in the PowerWeb initiative. Our view on smart grids research comprises the integrated study of the underlying physical systems (hardware), the design of smart energy management systems (software), and the study of smart grids in relation to their societal and economic environment (peopleware). This will allow us to model and design ICT systems that integrate energy production and consumption services in a robust way.

Annual PowerWeb Conference – Online

“High Performance Simulation of Multi-Energy Networks”

In the coming years of energy transition it is no longer sufficient to use and optimise single-energy networks separately. In stead of single-energy networks, as there are power, gas, and heat, it is required to integrate these networks in multi-energy networks.

Simulators for each of these networks are available. However integrating these simulators, taking into account the different properties of the energy carriers and huge size of the networks, it is impossible to use standard software for this challenge. New methods are needed both for the multi-energy networks that are based and optimised using the underlying physics and methods which are suitable for high performance computing, including massive parallel algorithms on CPU’s, GPU’s and FPGA’s.

This conference will bring researchers, working on system integration and High Performance Computing, together with network companies and industry to address new challenges, share solutions and discuss future research directions.
